Well done on taking the biggest step in learning to drive and gaining your freedom.  Firstly, before you get started you must be 17 years old and have a valid provisional driving licence.

Apply for your provisional driving licence by completing a D1 form, which you can get at the post office, or by applying online and following the link below:

So, what are the reasons for you wanting to learn to drive?

Is it because of the freedom it brings?  No more waiting for a bus in the freezing weather. No more time constraints based on the availability of public transport. Do you have to rely on other people for transport? Do you want to improve your chances of finding employment or apply for other jobs further afield if you have your own vehicle?  Do you want the independence to go where you want to go, and when?

So once you have your provisional driving licence what do you want from your driving instructor?

Your instructor will teach you a skill for life.  Firstly, to pass you driving test, and subsequently to prepare you for driving safely beyond the test.  The driving test is just a stepping stone on the way to becoming a safe driver for life. Your instructor needs to prepare you to pass and drive safely beyond the driving test.

So how do I do this?

Well, on the next few pages you can find out more about me and what I have to offer.
